Wildfire Crisis - Part 2: Places to Donate to Help Those Affected

The recent wildfires in Southern California have been devastating. 

Many people have reached out asking how they can help. If you're in a position to contribute financially, your support is needed and greatly appreciated. In this post, I've compiled a list of local and grassroots organizations that you can donate directly to, or that have lists of places to donate to. The list includes not only ways to assist those displaced by the fires, but also unique resources like apps that provided real-time fire updates, ways to help pets affected by the fires, and organizations addressing long-term recovery needs.

• Mutual Aid LA Network - This network helps support smaller, local mutual aid efforts across the city. They have a huge list of resources for those affected by the fires on their website and you can also donate to Mutual Aid LA  so they can continue their vital work 
• Wildfire Relief Fund 2025: Issues recovery grants to those affected by the fires. 
• California Community Foundation: Addresses long-term recovery needs like temporary housing, rebuilding homes, and mental health care.
• Pasadena Humane Society: The animal rescue has taken in more than 300 animals due to evacuations, including some with burns and injuries. 
• WatchDuty: This non-profit app provides up-to-date fire and evacuation information. It was an invaluable tool for me and just about everyone I know during the fire and I highly recommend it. The tool was more reliable than any news source and even more reliable than the emergency system texts (which sent out multiple false alerts)
• California Fire Foundation: Supports families of fallen firefighters and communities impacted by fires.
• LA Fires - Mutual Aid for art community: Google sheet created by @ContemporaryArtReview.LA
