Vintage Rose Color Palette - Soft & Romantic Aesthetic

Subtle shades of pink and beige combine to create airy elegance in the Vintage Rose palette. With its soft and muted colors, this is a timeless and classic romantic colorway.

This palette was originally inspired by an image that floated into my brain: dried roses resting near vintage sepia-tone photographs on a rustic, wooden table. All the hues were muted and desaturated and I sought to capture that aesthetic with this palette.

The basic Vintage Rose palette includes rose gold, pink, dusty rose and russet. If the jewelry piece allows for more colors, I'll usually start by adding darker browns. For a more playful look, I'll add pink coral or cranberry. For a more modern look, I may add white and additional neutral shades (champagne, peach).

When considering additional colors, I avoid hues that are too bold or bright, so as to keep the overall effect gentle and subdued.

  • 3-color version: rose gold, russet + 1 shade of pink (either pink or dusty rose/mauve, usually depending on dye lot)
  • 5-color version: rose gold, pink, dusty rose, russet, brown
  • extra colors include orchid, pink coral, cranberry, espresso, white, peach, champagne (sometimes champagne and rose gold clash, so—as is the case with all anodized aluminum—combining these colors depends on dye lots)

Shown in the collage, starting from upper left and moving clockwise: mesh cluster earrings, comet earrings with graduated knotted metal necklace, knotted metal graduated earrings, boho chandelier earrings and knotted metal V necklace.

Sidenote: I discovered "Vintage Rose" is not the best name for a colorway! Especially on Etsy which sells actual vintage items, it can be confusing for customers to have the word "vintage" on an item that is not in fact vintage. I love the name, so I've kept it especially for internal use, but I sometimes market items under this colorway as pink and beige, or boho pink, or some other phrase that avoids the word vintage.
