Magical Butterfly Color Palette - Whimsical, Berry-Kissed Hues

With an energetic combination of hot pink, turquoise, blue, purple and violet, the Magical Butterfly palette is a head-turner! This vibrant mix is one of the earliest colorways introduced in my sister shop Blue Buddha Boutique. Originally called "Berry," it was inspired by a blend of strawberries and blueberries. And as much as I dislike the flavor “blue raspberry” (I mean, what is that even?), I love its vibrant color and so I added turquoise to the mix. For my Rebeca Mojica Jewelry brand, I renamed this palette “Magical Butterfly” to better evoke a whimsical, fantasy aesthetic.

If I'm limited to just three colors in a piece, my go-to combination is almost always turquoise, violet, and purple. The vibrant, almost ethereal turquoise provides a bold contrast to the red-toned violet and blue-toned purple. There's something about the way these three interact that somehow captures the "Magical Butterfly" feel for me. And I’m not alone - if you do a quick search for magical butterfly images, you’ll find many purple & turquoise color combinations!

When I'm crafting a Magical Butterfly mix, I love adding a wide spectrum of pinks, blues, purples and violets. (It’s a great way for me to incorporate extra rings from old dye lots.) Think of the “extra” color as additional berries and complementary fruits: from strawberry to beautyberry to blackberry. Depending on the piece, I may add cranberry, but that is as “red” as I will go. Though aqua could be used as a stand-in for “blue raspberry”, I typically avoid it, as it often has a green undertone that can clash with the other colors.
